ABOUT PINCH
We got tired of standing in the aisle doing maths.
Groceries are up. Wages are flat. Australian families are paying roughly $1,900 more a year than pre-pandemic. Coles and Woolworths run the show and there's no real-time way to check if your receipt is fair. Pinch exists to change that.
How it works.
Start with what you're actually cooking. Paste a recipe or build a meal plan and Pinch lines up the ingredients against every store we track, so you can see the real price at Coles, Woolworths, ALDI and Harris Farm side by side before you leave the house.
Prices are tracked four times a week, straight off the retailers. No estimates, no stale catalogues. If a price moves, we see it. If a special ends, so does ours.
No ads. No selling your data. No account needed to browse. You install the app, you compare prices, you get on with your day.
The Pinch Index.
The Index is our public commitment to transparency. Every Friday we publish the real cost of ten family dinners at every major supermarket. Same meals, same week. Built for journalists, useful for families. Free.
Why now.
From July 1, 2026, supermarket price gouging becomes unlawful in Australia. The ACCC has been handed teeth to enforce it. Shoppers still need a way to verify what's fair in the moment, at shelf level, not six months later in a report. Pinch is that check.
Who built this.
Built by Scott Burke out of Sydney. Solo founder, one human reading every bug report, one person deciding what ships. If something's broken or a price looks wrong, tell me directly: scott@pinch-app.com.
