PRICING ANALYSIS -- SNAPSHOT
230 products where the "special" costs more than the old price.
Both Coles and Woolworths are currently in Federal Court for illusory discount pricing. We tracked 76,000+ products across 112 weeks and compared today's "special" prices to what each product actually cost 6-18 months ago. These 230 products are on special right now -- but the sale price is higher than what you were paying before the price was raised.

How we detected it
A product qualifies when all three conditions are met:
- The product is currently marked "on special" by the retailer
- The "special" price is still 5%+ higher than the most common price from 6-18 months ago
- The shelf price (was-price) has been raised above the special price, creating the appearance of a discount
This is the same pattern the ACCC identified in their Federal Court case against both retailers. We use the most common historical price (statistical mode) over a 52-week baseline window, requiring at least 12 weeks of data, ensuring the comparison reflects what consumers actually paid.
